Project Description

Each week a group of up to15 neighbours make their way to their newly built residents garden within the grounds of their community, where retired adults are living independently but within a care village. Nazareth Care Village and Independent Living is based in the busy Northwestern town of Sligo.

Members of this group are dealing with ongoing challenges from old age and degenerative diseases. Yet, we had a wonderful growing season in the year 2014. The garden group sessions are tailored to be relaxing and enjoyable, rather than purely work based. Being in the fresh air and chatting with neighbours, is just as important as the garden tasks. All residents are encouraged to come along, even to just sit in the warmth of the polytunnel and observe.

The gardeners have big plans for this new growing season and are eager to get busy in the garden again after the winter break.
