Project Description

We had fun with this one! This was a quirky new garden project. Space to Grow were commissioned to design and construct a polytunnel, that doubles up as an outdoor garden room for entertaining the family. The design brief was two sided as the polytunnel had to work as a functional vegetable producing growing area, as well as a place to relax and entertain.

To achieve this, the design prioritised space for socialising with a full length dining table that seats six people comfortably. The surrounding benches were large enough to laze about with big oversized cushions. A hammock was strung up amongst tall aromatic tomato plants. The incorporation of an east facing coffee deck makes full use of the morning sun. The deck is suspended over a small gurgling pond that not only looks pretty, but will help to build up moisture in the air of the tunnel. Thus cutting back the amount of watering of plants that the family will need to do.
