Sligos newest community growing space

Sligos newest community growing space

Cranmore Regeneration Project and Space to Grow have launched Sligo's newest community growing space right in the heart of Sligos residential area. Abbeyquarter Men's Shed have provided the space, and will primarily be responsible for the new garden project.

With the guidance of Space to Grow a social garden has been designed and a brand new polytunnel has been constructed. At 9m x 4.5m it is a generous size. Our favourite suppliers, Green Living Concepts came on board to supply and erect the tunnel to a fantastic standard, as usual. If you are thinking of a polytunnel for your own space, they really are the best, with the most professional finish, at the most affordable prices we've seen.

The focus of the garden project will be to grow food in a sociable way, bringing people together to achieve something worthwhile. The Mens Shed group will meet weekly to maintain and care for the space, with bi-monthly visits by our Social Gardener, Sophie Skinner. With twelve years experience, Sophie knows the score... with a full understanding of growing on both a horticultural, as well as social community level.

We are very excited about this particular new project, as it is so central to the Sligo community, and we are delighted to be on board, contributing to the larger regeneration project of the original cranmore estate.

Watch this space.

A  bright new future...
